Vice President of Tax | Remote Position | U.S. Based

Lead the Company’s REIT tax compliance, including quarterly income, asset, and distribution testing and coordination with outside tax advisors and internal teams.

Oversee federal, state, international, partnership, and joint venture tax compliance, including tax returns, estimated payments, dividend taxability, sales and personal property taxes, withholding requirements, and related reporting.

Manage tax notices, audits, and communications with taxing authorities, outside advisors, and joint venture partners.

Identify and evaluate tax planning opportunities, including tax credits and incentives, debt allocations, cost segregation, depreciation strategies, and other initiatives supporting Company objectives.

Research and advise on REIT qualification, partnership taxation, federal, state, local, and international tax matters and lead implementation of new tax laws and IRS guidance.

Review acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, operating agreements, TIF and development agreements, and acquisition due diligence for potential tax implications.

Oversee tax provisions and reporting, including ASC 740/FIN 48, elections, method changes, revaluation analysis, and related financial disclosures.

Advise management on entity formations and dissolutions, ownership limitations, shareholder reporting, W 9 compliance, and related corporate tax matters.

Serve as a tax resource to leadership and business partners and support tax related public reporting, proxy disclosures, and incentive compensation matters as needed.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Master’s degree with a concentration in Taxation.

12+ years of REIT and real estate tax experience within an accounting firm, law firm, or REIT.

Active CPA license, as applicable.

Advanced knowledge of REIT taxation, federal, state, and international tax law, GAAP, and accounting standards.

Partnership tax experience is highly desired due to the complexity of the Company’s ownership and joint venture structures.

Strong tax research, problem solving, decision making, and risk management skills.
