We are seeking a Property Accountant to support a portfolio of outdoor retail shopping center assets. This role is responsible for full-cycle property accounting, including monthly close, financial reporting, reconciliations, CAM and tenant-related activity, budgeting support, and variance analysis.
The position also includes managing cash, debt compliance, lender reporting, and partnering closely with Property Managers to support portfolio performance.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, growing environment, with the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities over time.
Responsibilities
• Maintain the general ledger for a portfolio of retail properties
• Execute monthly close, including preparation of journal entries
• Prepare monthly property financial statements
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts with supporting schedules to ensure accuracy
• Review and reconcile intercompany transactions
• Maintain fixed assets and depreciation schedules
• Prepare quarterly financial reporting packages
• Review and code invoices, check requests, and capital expenditures
• Monitor cash activity and complete weekly and monthly bank reconciliations
• Partner with Property Managers on annual budgeting and forecasting
• Analyze budget versus actual variances and provide supporting commentary
• Track mortgage payments and prepare quarterly debt compliance reporting
• Prepare lender funding requests
• Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
• 0 to 2 years of accounting experience, with real estate or property management experience preferred
• Strong Excel skills and experience with Yardi or similar systems
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Able to work independently in a fast paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Team oriented with a proactive, roll up your sleeves mindset
